From Dinning Room Chairs To Bench

If you read my last post you might remember that I said I made a bench from dinning room chairs.I wonder if you were a little confused ? Well today I want to show you what I made using six really ugly chairs. I'll show you the after, so I don't scare you away with the Before. Here's one of the benches.

And here's the story: My husband and I went to an auction one Sunday between church services and ended up getting a lot of stuff. We had not intended to buy much and had come in a small car. So seeing we had accumulated so much junk stuff, my husband went home to get the truck . I stayed behind and bought this really ugly dinning room set. Don't ask me why, but they were practically giving them away.

My husband was a little mad at me for buying this junk, and I got worried that I was  filling my basement with too much stuff. My kids were even saying "Mom why did you buy this junk?" Well the worst thing that could happen was that I had paid a couple of bucks for a nice bonfire. I got busy brainstorming what to do with this stuff. Just painting was out of the question, because they were falling apart.

I think the first thing that came to mind was to use the backs of the chairs for some kind of decor since they were so ornate. Here's what we came up with.  I spray painted the back sides with gold paint, added some Vaseline(for a chippy look), spray painted with oil rubbed bronze, then distressed with sandpaper. We painted a frame on the wall and added a background, then screwed the backs to the wall.

Here is what it looks like in my sister's hallway. I think this area still needs something, I just don't know what.

For the benches I cut the top of the chair off and turned the chairs back to back. They fit together very well. The only problem were the back legs curved back and looked weird. My husband suggested using the front legs off the other two chairs we weren't using. He was nice enough to help me the rest of the way, since I wasn't putting them together very well. He made them supper sturdy. Then, I added pallet wood for the top, with his help.
So out of the six chairs we built TWO benches and some interesting wall art. I think my husband was impressed with my idea! Let me know what you think of my projects.

  12. What's up? I like your blog texts unrealistically. I would like my texts to be as literate and interesting as yours. Thanks to writing company https://buypapercheap.net/cheap-custom-essay-for-sale.html, my texts became a little better than before, before my texts were even more illiterate and even more uninteresting and it was generally a nightmare. I would like to reach your level of writing.
